Eiyuden Chronicle Walkthrough Part 7
Part 7 of our Eiyiden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Walkthrough. Main quests included are: The Proving Grounds.
Welcome to Part 7 of my Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes Walkthrough. Part 7 deals with a single quest: The Proving Grounds, it's a banger alright... Let's get into it! If you've somehow gotten here by mistake, check the "main hub" of the Eiyuden Chronicle Walkthrough.
Quest: The Proving Grounds
You're first gonna quickly pass by the Road to the Proving Grounds. Nothing much here but minor treasures hiding amongst the "mushrooms". Just keep going!
Location: The Proving Grounds
Before we begin there's ONE VERY IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER.
If you do it by the colors, you won't get too confused - but this dungeon design really REALLY sucks either way.
Let's get right into it.
The start (0 Mechanisms On)
FIRST (Closest) RING - RED ON TOP: Head down into the rings, and go upstairs to your left. You'll eventually get into a second room with a minor puzzle, eventually leading to "Mechanism 1" (which you need to on), left of the exit.
After opening the first mechanism, the second ring is now active. There are other things you can do but it's best you ACTIVATE THE SECOND MECHANISM FIRST. The idea is to get the important stuff done with first, then get the optional stuff after. You'll end up back at the console.
1 Mechanism On (Going for the 2nd)
FIRST (Closest) RING - ORANGE AT BOTTOM: So you can enter the “middle right” room. Keep going and you’re back in 3F. There’s a Tanzanite Brooch here, and more importantly, The second mechanism to on on the right before the exit.
With this, all rings are now active - and we can move on to the "shapes".
2 Mechanisms On (Need Triangle, Circle)
(Close to far) PINK YELLOW ORANGE: Go to the end of the tunnel and there’s stairs on your left. This leads you to activate the Triangle Rune.
(Close to far) ORANGE ORANGE GREEN: go up the stairs on the right at the end - this leads to the Circle Rune.
After triggering both shapes - you can now proceed onward with Pink Pink Pink.
Optional Items
Here's a rundown of the "optional rewards", and my thoughts on the rewards.
- Rune of Fire Enchantment: It's something new for now.
- Palenight Armor: It's your second possible one. Not bad at this point.
- Rune of Quick Slash: Meh
- Rune of Sidewinder: Meh, you get a lot of these from drops here.
2 for 1 in one path! This is worth it. Palenight Mail: At the orb, go left, and make your way to the helicopter at the end. Fire Enchantment: At the orb, go left, then make your way to the "lower right room" on the first ring.
You know it's the correct formation if you can see the "above ground walkway in the 2nd ring is horizontal".
FROM ORB GO LEFT and you'll end up on the walkway, cross it for Quick Slash. FROM ORB GO RIGHT and you'll wind up at the Rune of Sidewinder.
Proceeding
PINK PINK PINK: Opens the way through. But please for the love of god, make sure you have restorative items. Go back to town if you have to. Save your game as well, it goes without saying...
Boss: Astraea the Judge, Slaosha the Enforcer
Focus on Astraea (the angel on the Shoulder). After dealing enough damage, Slaosha will tend to heal Astraea for a small amount - this is great, because otherwise he would be doing heavy sword attacks.
Once Astraea is red, she will start using a party wide AoE attack that’s very painful. Be safe, and use healing as best you can because recovering will be pretty hard if you have multiple deaths.
Thankfully, once you defeat one, both fall! Each and every time, 100%, Astraea is the better target. No gimmick in this fight! You get a Cute Ribbon and Rune of Light for your troubles.
AFTER THIS FIGHT GO BACKWARDS AND SAVE. Heck, go back to town if you need more healing items - there’s another boss comin’ up.
Boss: Hurstwine and Narungarde
Focus on Hurstwine first. While Narungarde is the more threatening opponent - there’s simply no way to burst her down reliably given she’s in the back row.
Thankfully Hurstwine isn’t that powerful, but keep note that both enemies hit TWiCE EACH TURN. There’s some RNG involved here, because both of them can cause sleep with certain attacks - which can spell disaster for you depending how it pans out.
Anti-sleep items? Can be useful… But I just hope that they wake up by getting attacked. Once you beat Hurstwine, this becomes much easier. As tanky as he is, Naru is very very soft.
After all the cutscenes, Kallathor joins up formally! Onwards!
