FFXVI Bomb King Hunt Guide: Location, Strategy, etc

Bomb King is a Rank B Hunt (Notorious Mark), whose location is offically listed as, "The Crock, Sanbreque". You'll need to be at main scenario quest Out of the Shadow / Letting off Steam III to unlock it.

Bomb King is unlocked during, and is an objective of, the sidequest: Weird Science.

Bomb King Location

Where is Bomb King located? Teleport to The Dragon's Aery waypoint. Along the southeast you'll see a path leading to a place marked "The Imperial Chase". It's likely your first time here so it's unexplored (it wasn't accessible before). Follow the path and take the fork north (You can easily see "The Crock", its spawnpoint, on the map from here).

Beating Bomb King

Notably, Bomb King DOES NOT STAGGER.

I'll start this off by saying don't underestimate the potential damage you can take from him plus adds. It can be outright lethal. Take care of adds asap.

Coronation: is a slow arcing fireball. Easy to dodge, or counter with Heatwave.

Witan: Rises, then falls doing AoE damage plus spawning adds.

King's Justice: A simultaneous group fireball aimed at you. Deadly.

It's only during the adds phase where you'll have any worry. His other moves are meh.

Bomb King can BE KNOCKED DOWN, so go in for a finisher each time he does.

Everything else is from the bomb skillset, fireballs, bursts, headbutts, cone breath.

Bomb King Reccomended Skill Setup

If doing ASAP: He isn't particularly difficult so you can just use whatever. But, if you wanna setup... Also HE DOES NOT STAGGER, and has adds - so we can have a little fun with our skill setup.

Phoenix

Heatwave - Coronation is a free ultra-Heatwave. Remember that it "absorbs" projectiles to empower itself.
Flames of Rebirth - for adds.

Titan

Windup - Use FREELY.
Earthen Fury - for adds.

Ramuh

Piledrive (any) - Use FREELY.
Judgment Bolt - Open the fight with this, and use freely after..
