FFXVI Gobermouch Hunt Guide: Location, Strategy, etc

Gobermouch is a Rank A Hunt (Notorious Mark), whose location is offically listed as, "Eistla, Waloed". You'll need to be at main scenario quest Brotherhood to unlock it.

Gobermouch Location

Where is Gobermouch located? Teleport to the Eistla waypoint in Waloed. It’s actually WITHIN “town”, in that open space in the mid-western area. Gotta climb stairs / ladders.

Beating Gobermouch

Gobermouch DOES NOT STAGGER, but sometimes gets KNOCKED DOWN. So do the ground stomp whenever you can.

It's very easy to underestimate this guy. He actually does some damage if you're reckless! Don't save your skills and absolutely SMASH him from the get-go.

Little Swing is a whirlwind attack that's kind of impractical to precision dodge. Goblin Punch is, as advertised, a strong punch from a goblin. His basic attacks are annoying and knock you down often.

This guy seems to have a ton of HP, and actually hurts. Have fun with him, but have a little care. Great place to practice Rook and Raging.

The below setup is designed to crush and counter this guy to death. Open with Judgment bolt into Gigaflare. Stay on Titan, and counter with either Titanic Block, Rook's Gambit, or Raging Fists. Then just spam every other ability when it's up.

Gobermouch Reccomended Skill Setup

If doing ASAP: (Have a little fun with this one)

  • Titan
    • Rook's Gambit (or any other more basic skill)
    • Raging Fists (or any other more basic skill)
  • Ramuh
    • Will-`o-the-wykes (Mastered - Phoenix)
    • Judgment Bolt
  • Bahamut
    • Impulse (or, Windup, or any)
    • Gigafare

If not doing ASAP, then use the above as a template. Admittedly this is a "fun" template to decimate this guy with style. Any other basic setup you'll be using is fine.

Gobermouch Rewards

Gobermouch Notable rewards are: Primitive Battlehorn. Used to craft Gotterdammerung.

Also, there's a treasure chest in this immediate area. It comtains the Indomitable Orchestrion Roll.

Gobermouch Miscellaneous Info

On finding Gobermouch, Clive says: "A goblin in Ash!? How the hell did it cross the strait?"

Upon defeating Gobermouch, Clive says: "Your journey ends here."
