FFXVI The Nine of Knives Hunt Guide: Location, Strategy, etc

The Nine of Knives is a Rank A Hunt (Notorious Mark), whose location is offically listed as, "The Jaw, Dhalmekia". You'll need to be at main scenario quest Out of the Shadow to unlock it.

The Nine of Knives Location

Where is The Nine of Knives located? Teleport to The Jaw in Dhalmekia. Follow the road you spawn on a little bit north. You can't miss him - he isn't hiding.

Beating The Nine of Knives

This "headsman" enemy type is very annoying. The Nine of Knives is even more annoying, he seems to use skills far more often, and HITS HARD.

Undermine: seems to be the only unique skill, so I'll talk about it now (although he won't do it till later). He basically dives into the ground

Poison Mist: is a cone AoE breath, avoid this at all costs as you'll get STUNNED aside from taking damage..

Smokescreen: an explosion in his location THAT KNOCKS YOU UP, then follows up with a dashing combo. Don't get fancy here, it's a very telegraphed attack that you SHOULD avoid.

The "basic attacks" are super annoying. Just be as safe as you can and take your time. All of his special skills have a downtime at the end to get a few hits or a skill in.

The Nine of Knives Reccomended Skill Setup

If doing ASAP:

• Phoenix
• Rising Flames - Great for the quick cast time.
• Will-'o-the-Wykes - Blocking damage is relevant here.
• Garuda
• Gouge (ANY) - ONLY USEFUL during partial stagger. Use another skill if wanted.
• Wicked Wheel - wait for a clear opening to smash him with this.
• Ramuh
• Windup (Mastered - Titan)
• Judgment Bolt
