FFXVI (Usher to the Underworld) Thanatos Hunt Guide: Location, Strategy, etc

(Usher to the Underworld) Thanatos is a Rank A Hunt (Notorious Mark), whose location is offically listed as, "Titan's Wake, Dhalmekia". You'll need to be at main scenario quest Brotherhood to unlock it.

You'll only discover its name, Thanatos, upon encountering it. Otherwise only the hunt bill title, "Usher to the Underworld", is your clue to its identity.

(Usher to the Underworld) Thanatos Location

Where is (Usher to the Underworld) Thanatos located? Teleport to The Gilded Path waypoint in Dhalmekia. Titan's wake is right in the middle of Kretov and The Gilded Path. He's spawns forth from the ground right in the middle of the road. Can't miss him.

Beating (Usher to the Underworld) Thanatos

You've fought quite a few of these "akashic golem" enemy types. Thanatos is very similar, but skills are tweaked a bit.

Spirits Without: A thick laserbeam that sweeps left to right and back again.

Jumping stomp - a jumping ground stomp which emanates a wave. You can jump over this if you like, lol, and do air combos. He can do this multiple times.

Destrudo: spawns a number of "bombs" on the floor seemingly randomly, FOR SOME TIME. Longer than you'd think. Your first instinct is to run when he puts his hands on the ground. Don't - this is the perfect time to smash him.

This one felt like an incredibly easy fight. Attacks are very telegraped, the jumping stomp can be converted into a huge chance for you to punish. Destrudo sucks, you can just wail on him. Laser, get behind and massacre...

Upon defeating (Usher to the Underworld) Thanatos, Clive says: "And don't come back."

Thanatos has oft been used in Final Fantasy as an enemy name. In Greek mythology he is the God of Death. Not to be confused with Hades, who is the God of the Underworld. You don't hear much about Thanatos in mythology since Hades was more present in the myths, and they kinda overlap in a big way.
