FF16 Ramuh Trial Guide. Strategy, Location, etc.

Looking for help beating the Ramuh trial (Hand of Iapetus Chronolith)? Hopefully our strategy, tips, tricks, (and potential cheese) help you get throught the Trial by Thunder!

This one was an eye-opener. I was drading Blind Justice before, but man, did I get "shocked" at how I ended up thinking it's actually decent!

Ramuh Trial Location

Ramuh's Trial is unlocked at the Hand of Iapetus Chronolith. The nearest waypoint is Caer Norvent River Gate at Sanbreque. From here, cross the bridge just northwest of here, then head to the northeast forest path where the Chronolith's right at the end of.

Ramuh Trial Strategy Stage by Stage tips

Note that while I wrote this for the Final Trial of Thunder ("Hard mode"), this advice will definitely apply to the normal Chronolith (Hand of Iapetus) as well.

Ramuh Trial - best general tips

  • Lock 9x Blind Justice on one enemy. (+5s)
  • Discharge Blind Justice on 4 enemies at once. (+8s)

Getting the second one, 4x enemy discharge is easy. It's a good source of time here and there, and you can "abuse" this somewhat. Notably, they get stunned a long time so yo ucan perform 2 or 3 stomps after.

9x Blind Justice on one guy, a little less practical. Great for "that one last guy", and CAN be done on some of the minibosses. There are niche scenarios where you can safely use it - it's always a time gain when you do.

Ramuh Trial Stage 1

Skills:

  • Piledrive: Hit 2+ enemies with a single Pile Drive. (+12s)
  • Thunderstorm: Hit a falen enemy with Thunderstorm (stagger seems to count) (+12s)

Stage 1-1

Enemies: Trash mobs

Blind Justice lock on as many as you can ASAP, go near and Piledrive. Look for a downed healthy guy and Thunderstorm it. Repeat this Blind Justice 4x, discharge stomp rotation. DO NOT USE A SECOND PILE DRIVE.

Stage 1-2

Enemies: Trash mobs

Same process here, Lockon into Pile Drive into Thunderstorm then clean up with Blind Justice into Stomps.

Stage 1-3

Enemies: Aevis Miniboss

Start it off by a quick Blind Justice 3x, don't greed it. Normal fighting until partial stagger then Piledrive instantly. From here, it will stagger shortly after. Pop Limit Break as stagger occurs, then Thunderstorm at 50%, it should just die right here.

Ramuh Trial Stage 2

Skills:

  • Piledrive: Hit 2+ enemies with a single Pile Drive. (+12s)
  • Lightning Rod: Lure an enemy into hitting Lightning Rod thrice. (+12s)

You can re-press the Lightning Rod button to reposition it!

While the Pile Drive bonus is always easy, the Lightning Rod is unclear. Honestly, do not try to maximize this.

Stage 2-1

Enemies: 2x shaman and Bighorn Miniboss

Lockon to three of them and Piledrive in the middle asap, stomping shamans to finish them off. Lightning Rod on the Bighorn and reposition aggressively. You can use a Limit Break bar or 2 but probably not needed. Do not use a second PIledrive.

Stage 2-2

Enemies: Trash mobs

Same story. Blind Justice all, into Piledrive. Mop up with stomps. Don't bother with Lightning Rod.

Stage 2-3

Enemies: Bombs and Slime miniboss.

Again, open with Blind Justice into Piledrive. KILL THE BOMBS ASAP. From there, Lightning Rod the slime and go to town with Limit Break - don't wait for a stagger just straight up LB him down.

Ramuh Trial Stage 3

Skills:

  • Lightning Rod: Lure an enemy into hitting Lightning Rod thrice. (+12s)
  • Judgment Bolt: Hit 2 or more enemies with Judgment Bolt (+15s)

You should only get the Judgment Bolt bonus twice in this stage.

Stage 3-1

Enemies: Fallen Giant miniboss and trash.

Blind Justice all, lockon to golem with L1 then Judgment Bolt asap. stomp and cleanup the stragglers. Once he's alone it's easy work with Ligtning Rod. If you can 9x great, but don't force it too hard.

Stage 3-2

Enemies: Trash mobs.

Gain time here by doing a cycle of Blind Justice lockon, stomps, repeat. If there are less than 4, kill all until one remains and get a 9x lock before proceeding.

Stage 3-3

Enemies: 2x Miniboss, Coeurl and Fallen.

Lock onto the Coeurl with L1 and make sure you smash him with Judgment Bolt. Bonus points if you can tag 'em both. It should near instantly die. Slam limit break right after and go ham. Opening LB prior to JB is an instagib I think. From here, the fallen miniboss shuold go down quick with Lightning Rod. Try to use the 9x Blind Justice when you can.

Final Stage - Boss

Skills:

  • Skill: Judgment Bolt(No Bonus)
  • Skill: Thunderstorm (No Bonus)

Boss: Gryphon

Very easy. You got one Judgment Bolt here, so use it as a stagger finisher. Spam Thunderstorm, only save it if he's very near staggering. Once staggered open LB and go to town, make SURE TO USE Judgment Bolt before LB runs out. If you're forcibly away from him or while hes charging up a dive, you can Blind Justice or use the oft forgotten Charged Magic.


Summary and Closing

I appreaciate what these trials are trying to do, Ramuh's more than most. I loathed Blind Justice before, but I can see its uses now. Overall a very cool trial that kind of forced you to maximize Ramuhs mechanics.
