FFXVI (A Hill to Die On) Fastitocalon Hunt Guide: Location, Strategy, etc

(A Hill to Die On) Fastitocalon is a Rank B Hunt (Notorious Mark), whose location is offically listed as, "The Velkroy Desert, Dhalmekia". You'll need to be at main scenario quest Riddle of the Sands to unlock it.

(A Hill to Die On) Fastitocalon Location

Where is (A Hill to Die On) Fastitocalon located? Teleport to The Velkroy Desert Waypoint, then keep heading northeast (Don't go inside "The Northern Velkroy Desert"). You'll find it at the NE edge of this "area".

You'll only discover its name, Fastitocalon, upon encountering it. Otherwise only the hunt bill title, "A Hill to Die On", is your clue to its identity.

Beating (A Hill to Die On) Fastitocalon

Like all turtle type enemies, the head is the weakpoint. Any other attack to the side is a lot weaker. AVOID DODGING SIDEWAYS if you can. Backwards or forwards is better.

Water Cannon: Rapid linear bursts of water. Get hit by one, get hit by all.

Tetsudo Trompe: his "super move". Random water geysers while he attempts to stomp you. Get some cheap magic shots in during this phase, for some free damage. Usually followed by Water Cannon.

Doesn’t do much else. Pretty easy fight all things considered.

(A Hill to Die On) Fastitocalon Reccomended Skill Setup

If doing ASAP:

Phoenix

  • Rising Flames - preferably used during stagger.
  • Will-'o-the-Wykes - I prefer staggering with this vs. use during stagger.

Garuda

  • Gouge - use after partial stagger at 50%.
  • Wicked Wheel - use freely to stagger.

Ramuh

  • Piledrive - use anytime, best on stagger.
  • Judgment Bolt - godlike stagger finisher.

Sadly I didn't test if Heatwave worked versus that stream of projectiles. If it does, amazing.

If not doing ASAP, then use the above as a template.
