How to get Ore in Palworld? + Basic Ore Mining Base Setup

Need more Ore in Palworld? All the basic ways and tips to get it, as well as "How to make an Ore mining base" if you need some SERIOUS ORE FARMING.

So, you need Ore in Palworld? Get in line, buddy. Here we discuss two things. First, is the basic ways and tips to get Ore. And, if you ever feel the need to "seriously" expand your Ore mining efforts - the best way to setup an Ore Mining Base in Palworld. Welp, we all need that sweet Ore one way or another, so let's dig deep into the topic now shall we.

How to get Ore in the Early Game / Just Spawned

By the time you need Ore or Ingots, you should already have at least a Stone Pickaxe - use it to hit those large copperish colored Mineral Deposits. That's the basic, consistent way of getting Ore early on in Palworld.

Having said this, feel free to buy Pickaxe upgrades in your Technology Tree. You'll be using it to gather Ore, Stone, and Paldium Fragments here and there. Don't sweat the loss of tech points.

Need to farm LOTS OF ORE? Setting up an Ore Mining Base

How would one go about getting A LOT OF ORE in Palworld? There is a point in the game where you need quite a bit of it, and it's tedious to get it yourself... So the obvious solution is to make your Pals "help" you in a new base specifically to farm ore.

Find a good Location for your Ore Mining Base

The first step is to find a place for your Ore Base - the ideal spot has a bunch of Ore Mineral Deposits. Better yet, without much "random junk" to distract your Pals mining them. Thankfully, I found one really good spot.

The coordinates are 155 -394 (see the bottom left of your map). Check a little up and left from Chillet. Or "directly" left from the Fort Ruins waypoint. It's on a flat mountaintop - can't miss it.

Use the RIGHT Ore mining Pals

The second step is capturing the right Pals for Ore mining jobs. You NEED to have Pals with Level 2 Mining or higher, otherwise they CANNOT MINE ORE. Only stone. Your best options early on are Pengking and Tombat - both having Level 2 Mining and Level 2 Transporting!. They're great Pals for the job that can both Mine and Carry Ore, without being distracted by other possible jobs like Lumbering.

For Pengking, you can at the very least capture one of these an Hour in the boss room. As for Tombats on the other hand, you can find a few flying around every night.

You can either fill up your base with these 2 Pals, and / ore use Pals that can CARRY THINGS in the meantime the higher the transporting level the better. If they have no other useless skills to distract them, better.

What to build in the Ore Base?

You just need a bare bones base to start churning out ore. The Palbox, obviously. Then you're gonna wants a Feedbox, Beds, and ideally a Pal Hotspring or other amenities to help them with their SANity.

As for feeding these Ore Mining Pals, either fast travel to and from your main base to restock their food (Which is OK, don't sweat it too much), or alternatively build a small food production chain on the side. Personally, delivering it is ok for the most part. If you wanna upgrade down the line, go for it.

These guys are gonna work hard so make sure you have Beds, and at the very least a Hotspring. Don't want these guys to spiral into depression. Make sure they have easy, "least possible getting stuck" paths to them too.

At last, a very important note - the box where Ore will be stored must be VERY NEAR THE Palbox. Why? When you eventually pick up your fat stacks of Ore you won't be able to move. This isn't good. If you're right next to the box, you can fast travel to your main base where you'll have another box at the Spawnpoint to deposit your ore.

Ore Mining Base Optimization

There are a lot of little things you can do to optimize your Ore Mining Base.

For example, Lifting (F) a Pal and throwing it onto a Copper Ore deposit tells them to focus on mining. I don't know exactly if they stop transporting, but it seems the Pals really try to ONLY do that if you lift and throw them to their intended job.

You can also place walls around the mining area so they won't venture too far off and potentially prevent them from getting stuck. Minimizing the space where they can wander really helps. As long as they can easily access their needs like beds, food, etc.

Get the right balance of Transporters and Miner Pals. There's no magic number here, but try to observe your current setup. Don't over stack on "forced" miners, as having nobody to carry the ore is a little annoying.
