Chapter 10 Walkthrough: Pre-notes
This chapter is all about Cosmo Canyon. If you're wondering about World Intel completion, it's not as bad as Gongaga - but still have some confusing elements.
Homeward Bound
On your way to town, you'll pass by a few objectives you SHOULD be getting. Tower 1, the sidequest Bonds of Trust (unlocks Chocobo), and Lifespring 1 all leading up to town. Don't need to complete Bonds of Trust right now, haha. Just get the Chocobo, and Crescent Sickle (Yuffie Weapon) from the first course.
Chocobo troubles?
Focus on getting into town, don't get sidetracked too much.
Welcome Back, Nanaki
Pilgrimage
Watcher-to-Be
Keep progressing the main story for now.
Gadgets and Gizmos Aplenty
Recordometer
Raw Materia
Book Backlog
Celestial Model
Projector
Mako Detector
Current Generator
Telescope
For each device you find you'll get a new subquest. These are all I found. I suspect the only required ones are the Telescope up top, and the Planetary Phonograph once you descend.
A Planetological Review
Higher Learning
Make sure to take up their offer in the storage room. Crystal Megaphone (Cait Sith Weapon) is in there, among other things.

What Lies Beyond
Let the Trials Begin
Stuck with Red and Barret, feel free to set them up well as you'll be using this pair for a WHILE. There's a Road Warrior Bangle on sale in the very first rest spot.
No Way Through?
For the locked stone gate, “The door may open if you cut the rope”. Cut the rope by climbing on a rock west from the door.
In the next large room (Chamber of Deception in your map), there's a Celestial Bangle if you climb up the north wall and go all the way around. It's in a yellow chest. It's a very powerful armlet that has SIX slots, and amazing defensive stats!
The First Trial
There's a bunch of relics on the ground you can turn in. Some are actually items! The most important one is Mystic Collar (Red Weapon), on top of the southeast "pillar". There's a Healing *** Materia, as well as Gi Warriors Charm around here too.
The relic at the very top near the exit is what you need to progress the quest, but you can still look for and submit other relics if you've turned it in.
The Voice Within
The Ruby Altar
The Emerald Altar
The Amber Altar
You got the Ruby Idol earlier, the Amber Idol is just nearby on the same platform. The Emerald one is in the north path. Drop down into the “water' for a Fortification Matera **. Place them all and you're good to go.
To Thine Own Self Be True
The First Gate
Gate of Anger
There's a Calamitous Bazooka (Barret Weapon) in the Purple Chest opposite the giant gate.
Don't worry, you have to go through these gates in order. I somehow got stressed thinking this was a 3-part branching path.
The Second Gate
“Pin” the chain to the side on the hook thing on the wall after you pull it.
The Third Gate
There's an Empowerment Materia ** if you climb up the East wall all the way. Basic puzzles… then pick up the lock thing, place it on the wall, pull the chain and you're good to go.
That Distant Shore
Boss: Gi Nattak
Assess him to read it for yourself, but TLDR is different colors give you different debuffs. Staggering cancels it out. Its Doom isn't the type to be dispelled. It's a special mechanic. He does it when he's low. Try to save Limit for when you're doomed, or if you can get him good on a Stagger which brings him real low. I DON'T THINK "anti-death" accessories work on his doom...
Barrets Maximum Fury obliterates these summoned adds! Quickly switch to Barret and charge it up to get rid of them ASAP.
