Back to Corel you delve in Chapter 12! This is my straight to the point, NO BS Walkthrough for Chapter 14 of FF7 Rebirth. Here, you will expect:
Chapter 14 is a little different. There's no way to talk about it without spoilers. While I usually blur boss names, this whole chapter is a "boss rush" or "gauntlet"! So this whole guide instead talks about HOW TO BEAT the Chapter 14 BOSSES.
Chapter 14 Walkthrough: Pre-notes
As mentioned above, spoilers ahead for BOSS NAMES, and how to beat bosses. There's simply no other method of "discussion" in Chapter 14 - it's essentially pure combat.
In a Dream
Our Spot
Altarbound
Beyond the Wall
There's alot of story, some minor battles, and walking here... Eventually, you reach a resting point wherein you're warned that you have to setup your ENTIRE PARTY - and they aren't kidding. You're about the enter a long boss gauntlet.
Chapter 14 PARTY SETUP
Items - Buy, Transmute / Craft: Craft some Mist Mega Potion - it's going to be very useful here. Get some Phoenix Downs / Phoenix Drafts (you should have a bunch just from pickups).
All Party Members / Basic Setup: Get Healing Materia on as many party members as you can manage (Hopefully you leveled them up), and HP Up Materia goes a long way.
Cloud Setup
Cloud appears many times, and is part of the most difficult fight as well. Go all out on equipping him, but don't get greedy on DPS.
Cloud: Getting Magnify + Healing on Cloud makes sense - he's in the most fights. Elemental + Fire and Ice on Weapon (or Lightning and Wind) would be good too. Item Economizer + Item Master is a good bonus too. You DO NOT want to fail the last fight, haha.
Aerith Setup
Aerith: Only part of the Final Battle, but a difficult one - go the extra mile setting her up as YOU DON'T WANNA FAIL THE LAST FIGHT. Item Economizer + Item Master for her is great (You don't want to fail at the last fight, haha). You also want support Materia like Time, Barrier, and Fortification Materia. It's a little risky for the "earlier encounters", but Magnify + Time is pretty legit for Aerith here.
Tifa Setup
Tifa: If you have the other Elemental Materia, Tifa would make great use of it. Tifa is part of a boss fight which needs all Elemental Magic types. Try to also have either a Lightning or Fire Materia on her too.
Barret Setup
Barret: Barret is also part of the fight which needs all Elemental Magic so try to get Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Wind Materia on him too. If you have another Magnify + Healing, it should go on Barret or Yuffie.
Yuffie Setup
Yuffie: Yuffie's very flexible by nature, and you don't need to do any special setup. If you have another Magnify + Healing, it should go on Barret or Yuffie. And, with much lesser of a priority All Elemental Materia.
Red XIII Setup
Red XIII: No "special" setup required. Any ranged magical Materia Recommended for an easy ranged attack.
Cait Sith Setup
Cait Sith: No "special" setup required. Any ranged magical Materia Recommended for an easy ranged attack.
Jenova Lifeclinger I v Cloud, Barret +1
Your third party member won't always be the same. (Seems to be either Tifa or Red)
For the Barrier only elemental damage affects it. After this, Tifa and Barret become incapacitated and you have to finish the rest of phase with Cloud only. It shuold end after the first Stagger.
There's a mini second phase that doesn't last too long. Just keep it up!
Jenova Lifeclinger II v Tifa, Cait
Use Tifa's Limit on the Wing ASAP. This pair might have trouble with ranged attacks. Try to save Caits Limit if you can.
Jenova Lifeclinger III v Barret, Red
Similarly, use Barret's Limit of the Wing ASAP. Then finish it off with Barret primarily as Red might have trouble DPSing the wing. If you're iffy, use Red's Limit as well.
Jenova Lifeclinger IV v Cloud, Yuffie
Use Yuffies Limit on the Head. You can opt to save Clouds, or use it to finish this phase ASAP.
Jenova Lifeclinger V v Cloud, Cait +1
Your third party member won't always be the same. (Seems to be either Red or Yuffie)
This is a good time to use ALL SAVED UP LIMIT BREAKS, assuming you've saved any. This is a very painful phase so try to end it ASAP.
HP AND MP RESTORED AT THIS POINT
Sephiroth v Cloud, Zack
Open the fight by switching to Zack - try to buff both with Haste. Counter with Clouds Punisher Mode is super effective here. Stagger him ASAP with Focused Thrust while he's Pressured.
Try to use their Synergy Ability (Soldier's Honor) here when Sephiroth's Staggered! not only does it "one shot" Sephi here while Staggered, but it increases both Limits!
Zacks "charge" mechanic seems buggy and inconsistent. I'm guessing this will be patched.
Sephiroth Reborn v Cloud SOLO
DO NOT USE LIMIT HERE. It's a pretty easy phase. Kill the "body", then proceed to climb up and figh the "Head".
has some skills:
- Swarm - Homing Projectiles. Block if you don't feel like doing multiple dodges.
- Hell's Gate - Delayed Meteor. Bait and move.
- Interred Horror - Landmines placed underneath you, thrice. Just keep moving out.
- Apocalyptic Fire - AoE Knockback (Block this one if you can't run out)
Sephiroth Reborn + Bahamut Arisen v Tifa, Cait +1
Your third party member won't always be the same. (Seems to be either Red or Yuffie)
This phase SHOULD go like this: Kill Bahamut - Destroy Wing - Kill Bahamut - Destroy Wing. Failing to destroy a wing "revives" bahamut once more. Knowing this, try to save an ATB or two when Bahamut is about to die to ensure wing destruction.
Sephiroth Reborn v Zack
Get Haste up ASAP! When Sephiroth uses Wail - retreat to the shield and then destroy the Ball that Spawns. On Stagger, use the Synergy Ability with Cloud! (Yes, you can even if you're "Solo" - He's with you in spirit haha).
Has the same moves from Clouds solo encounter.
Again, unless patched in the future Zacks "charge" mechanic seems really inconsistent.
HP AND MP RESTORED AT THIS POINT
Sephiroth Reborn v Yuffie, Barret, +1
Your third party member won't always be the same. (Seems to be either Red or Tifa)
Destroy the wings with their elemental weakness (depending on their color).
- Red Wings - use Ice.
- Blue Wings - use Fire.
- Green Wings - use Lightning.
- Yellow Wings - use Wind.
I mentioned using all Elemental Magic Materia Barret during the setup phase. But, Yuffie can use Elemental Ninjutsu to get this done all on her own if you like.
Once you destroy the wings, BE CAREFUL, save some ATB for healing (Mist Potions are great for this) he immediately follows up a "1 HP" move followed up by more AoE attacks - so try to heal up quickly.
HP AND MP RESTORED AT THIS POINT
The Final Battle: Sephiroth vs. Cloud and Aerith
Always try to have Haste on both of them.
"Always Break the Parts", Wing or Sword, when they show up.
Hopefully you've saved up Clouds Limit Break, but it should charge up here either way.
Use Spellblade when you have an opening! It's worth it to charge Aerith's ATB and deal massive damage. Radiant Ward also helps with Aerith's ATB here.
Maximize Countering with Clouds Punisher Stance, or the Counterstance Skill is super legit. Just don't be greedy take it slowly. You'll get there!
Use your buffs: Haste, Regen, and to a lesser extent Protect and Barrier are great.
For Octaslash, you have to break either or the Wing or his Sword to power it down. Failing to kill either is a sure death.
Finally, you have to resolve The End is Nigh. You have to run around in a circle dodging his attack - luckily he's pressured during this. Stagger him ASAP and END IT HERE. This is the perfect time to use Limit Break, even if he isn't staggered yet.
