Recommended BG3 Bard starting stats

If you don't wanna read too much into it, here's a TLDR for Bard. This would be my answer "if I was FORCED to provide ONE SETUP" that might please as many people as possible.

This setup will work for any subclass you want. Bard can focus on a few different things, but thankfully this starting stat setup should cover most of your goals.

  • Strength: 8. Base 8 No Modifiers.
  • Dexterity: 16. Base 14 +2 Ability Score Modifier.
  • Constitution: 14. Base 14 No Modifiers.
  • Intelligence: 10. Base 10 No Modifiers.
  • Wisdom: 10. Base 10 No Modifiers.
  • Charisma: 16. Base 15 +1 Ability Score Modifier.

Charisma is undoubtedly the Bards most important stat. DEX and CON are about equal after that.

There may be some races in BG3 with a different Ability Score modifier bonus (we shall see), but I hope you get the idea.

Don't like negative bonuses? Reduce DEX or CON to shore up Strength.

BG3 Bard starting stats: Why?

The summary for Bard is:
CHA > DEX >= CON: most important. INT > WIS > STR: lesser importance.

Strength

Doesn't have much of a use for Bard.

Dexterity

Finesse and Ranged weapon damage, plus AC from light / medium armor.

Constitution

Is always good to have. More HP / Survivability.

Intelligence

Doesn't have much of a use for Bard.

Wisdom

Doesn't have much of a use for Bard.

Charisma

Bards main stat for "spellcasting". Doubles up for amazing conversational bonuses.
