Note that all races in BG3 gain a +2 and +1 bonus to ANY two Ability Points ("stats") during character creation or while respeccing. And most, if not all racially tied stat bonuses are not present.

Dragonborn Race Basic Information

Here's a summary of the basic racial "traits" of Dragonborn in BG3.

Race Features:

Base Racial Speed: 9m per turn.

No matter the subrace you choose you will get a Breath Action, and a Resistance trait.

Dragonborn Subraces

Instead of talking about them one by one... Each Dragonborn subrace is a color. This affects your physical look, and mechanically in-game the element of your breath weapon (with varying CON or DEX saves), the elemental resistance of your Draconic Ancestry.

No matter which subrace you choose, the Breath does 2d6 which improves at later levels. The Element of your Breath and Resist will always be a "pair" of the same one in relation to your color.

Honestly, it's up to you. Fire (Red) seems a really basic one, or Lightning (Bronze) given the potential environmental effects. But it's honestly pretty irrelevant.

This depends on your goals, of course, but If I had to recommend one, this would be it.

Best Classes for Dragonborn in BG3?

But if I was to give a straight answer, the best classes for Dragonborn are melee frontliners in the thick of things. Barbarians, Fighters, Paladins and their like. Why? Simple - you want breath weapon to obliterate as many enemies as possible, lol.

Another option is to choose a class(es) or subclass(es) that improve breath damage for the memery.

Note that there's no right or wrong answer here, haha. There's always a crazy build out there, flavor or RP, or a plethora of other reasons to choose Dragonborn over another with any combination!
