BG3 Ability Improvement Feat

Info on the Ability Improvement BG3 Feat. Tips, when to use, is it worth it, is it good?

Ability Improvement is one of the Feats in Baldurs Gate 3. Here's a short guide on it on what it does (and clarifications), as well as "is Ability Improvement good?" "is Ability Improvement worth it?".

Ability Improvement Effects

As per the in-game description:
You increase one Ability by 2, or two Abilities by 1, to a maximum of 20..

Ability Improvement mechanics clarifications

In BG3 (and 5e) what we usually call "stats" are Abilities, or Ability Score.

Can be taken multiple times.

This, or pretty much any other mechanic, cannot increase your stats above 20.

Is Ability Improvement worth it?

So, is Ability Improvement good? When would you take Ability Improvement? Yes. This "pseudo-feat" is amazing, and should be your choice unless you're SURE the feat your taking is better (or, more flavorful) for your character.

This is essentially the "baseline feat". If you plan on taking another feat always compare it to this one! Always try to make your stats EVEN, to increase your Ability Score modifiers. While there are circumstances to keep your stats odd, you better know what you're doing.

Remember you can always respec, if you like. So don't worry about ruining your character somehow.

Summary and Closing

Hopefully you gained some insight on the Ability Improvement feat in Baldurs Gate 3 and decide whether you need it in your build or not!

Ability Improvement doesn't exist in 5e. BG3 just rolled this into the Feat page as the base 5e rules state you can take +2 freely allocatable stats at level 4/8/12 etc, and can take a Feat in its place.
