BG3 Polearm Master Feat

Info on the Polearm Master BG3 Feat. Tips, when to use, is it worth it, is it good?

Polearm Master is a Feat in Baldurs Gate 3. Here's a short guide on it on what it does (and clarifications), as well as "is Polearm Master good?" "is Polearm Master worth it?".

Polearm Master Effects

As per the in-game description: When attacking with a glaive, halberd, quarterstaff, or spear, you can use a bonus action to attack with the butt of your weapon. You can also make an Opportunity Attack when a target comes within range..

Polearm Master mechanics clarifications

You get a Bonus Action once every turn. They're used for many varying effects.

Opportunity Attacks can trigger if you choose to use a reaction whenever an enemy leaves your melee range. In the case of this feat, you can trigger one upon them arriving in your range.

Is Polearm Master worth it?

So, is Polearm Master good? When would you take Polearm Master? YES. This is a godly feat. The average encounter will see you attacking many more times than usual using this feat. It's a "pre-emptive" way to possibly use your Reaction every turn. Repositioning and Shoving / Movement becomes doubly punishing for your enemies.

Both the "bonus" butt-strike, and the Opportunity Attack half of this feat are both decent. Even if you're a class that always uses the bonus action, the "Opportunity Attack" half of the feat is more than enough to make it a decent choice.

The only downside is having to use a Spear-like weapon, which isn't really bad anyway. It's one of the best feats in BG3.
