BG3 Sentinel Feat
Info on the Sentinel BG3 Feat. Tips, when to use, is it worth it, is it good?
Sentinel is a Feat in Baldurs Gate 3. Here's a short guide on it on what it does (and clarifications), as well as "is Sentinel good?" "is Sentinel worth it?".
Sentinel Effects
As per the in-game description: When an enemy within melee range attacks an ally, you can use a reaction to make a weapon attack against that enemy. Target ally must not have the Sentinel Feat. You gain Advantage on Opportunity Attacks, and when you hit a creature with an Opportunity Attack, it can no longer move for the rest of its turn..
Sentinel mechanics clarifications
Reactions are gained once a turn, most typically used for Opportunity Attacks.
Opportunity Attacks occur if you spend a reaction when an enemy leaves your melee range.
Advantage means rolling two dice and using the higher result.
Is Sentinel worth it?
So, is Sentinel good? When would you take Sentinel? Yes. Sentinel is one of the best feats out there! It's a way to "proactively" use your Reactions to generate more attacks.
Advantage on Opportunity Attacks is a welcome bonus. Also, rooting enemies hit by Opportunity Attacks is very good at protecting your backline, and making you an extremely sticky threat.
Sentinel helps both your other frontline friends, and backline buddies. A great feat overall!
Sentinel gains a bit more value if you have at least 2 melee range characters IMO.
