BG3 Findal Guide (Underground Passge / Goblins)

What to do with Findal in the Underground Passage (w/ Goblins) in Baldurs Gate 3.

So you found the passed out dwarf (gnome?) in the Underground Passage, fought off some Goblins. Now you're left with a passed out gnome (dwarf?) seeking guidance on what to do. Well, the little guy has a name - Findal, and here's what you can do with him.

Waking up Findal

Note that before you wake him up, you can PICKPOCKET Findal. You get a magical headger that gives you +1 Nature skill. It's not great, but it can serve as food for one of your companions with more... eccentric needs of sustenance...

How do you wake up Findal? Any sort of healing spell or effect does the trick. Shadowheart has one by default, it's probably what most people will end up using. Throwing a healing potion also works, but you can "miss" or sometimes it doesn't work so try to save beforehand.

Talking with Findal

He heals himself up shortly after waking. Talking to Findal shows a couple choices. Note that all dialogue options except the "violent" one have the same effect: He answers your question honestly, and leaves towards the grove. There's no right or wrong here.

  • How did the goblins slip in: Says it's his fault, they followed him in.
  • Was no one looking for you: He was just gathering herbs as usual, before the goblins came.
  • Im surprised the goblins didn't gut you on sight: They didn't because they were trying to get information from him about a weapon..
  • Don't thank me yet, I'm here to finish what they started: ... well you know where this ends up...

After selecting any of the three "normal" ones, he warns you about traps in this place and goes back into the grove shortly after. If you find him there, he's very grateful for the help.

Summary and Closing

Findal is just a normal everyday guy (I'll verify this with detect thoughts, haha). By all signs he seems to be a "good" aligned little dude. It's a scenario that I thought would be a little more complex, but I can appreciate simple too!

"Findal, sadly I can't find this hat you're talking about..." "Maybe those Goblins got it?" "Oh Gale? Gale doesn't know where your hat is... he definitely doesn't..."
