Recommended BG3 Monk starting stats

If you don't wanna read too much into it, here's a TLDR for Monk. This would be my answer "if I was FORCED to provide ONE SETUP" that might please as many people as possible.

Monks can heavily use DEX, WIS, and CON. Wanting triple stats hurts a little.

• Strength: 10. Base 10 No Modifiers.
• Dexterity: 16. Base 15 +1 Ability Score Modifier.
• Constitution: 14. Base 14 +2 Ability Score Modifier. Can swap w/ WIS.
• Intelligence: 8. Base 8 No Modifiers.
• Wisdom: 16. Base 14 No Modifiers. Can swap w/ CON.
• Charisma: 10. Base 10 No Modifiers.

WIS 16 CON 14 vs WIS 14 CON 16: The "safer" option is CON 16. PERSONALLY, I'D CHOOSE WIS 16 - it's "cooler", and has more effects., but I would RECOMMEND CON if you're newer or wanna be more careful. Up to you, man!

Don't like negative bonuses? Remove some WIS or CON to add the other stats. In the case of monk where stats are tight, though - I don't recommend it.

For Monk, more than most classes, the "no penalty" starting stat setup kinda hurts.

BG3 Monk starting stats: Why?

The summary for Monk is:
DEX >= WIS > CON: most important. WIS > CHA > INT: lesser importance.

Strength

Is not needed for melee damage. The "Martial Arts" feature of the Monks allows you to use DEX instead of STR for unarmed and monk weapon damage. Pretty unnecessary stat.

Dexterity

Monks "main" stat especially for damage. It also adds its modifier to your AC via monks Unarmored Defense.

Constitution

Always good to have more CON - more survivability.

Intelligence

Doesn't have much of a use for Monk.

Wisdom

Grants its modifier to your AC via Unarmored Defense, as well as determines alot of extra Ki based monk effects.

Charisma

Doesn't have much of a use for Monk.
