The short answer(s). The best race for Rogue in BG is Wood Else, or Deep Gnome Why two choices?
Why Wood Elf? Darkvision, Fey Ancestry and increased Movement are an amazing trio of traits. The movespeed is what pushes it over the edge for me! More stabby, more kiting. The proficiencies also vastly expand your ranged weapon choices!
Why Deep Gnome? They give a bonus to Stealth, which is a unique buff (Lightfoot Halfling also has it, but is IMO a worse choice). If you don't care about the stealth buff, or don't like the aesthetic implications of going Gnome (or even the lower movespeed, which is relevant) - then I'd say Drow.

Is Elf a good race for Rogue? Yes! As mentioned above, the Wood Elf is IMO best. High Elf cantrip can also be good! You can't go wrong with Elves.
Tiefling for Rogue
Is Tiefling a good race for Rogue? No. Sad for a race with "Tief" in it, ey? Mage Hand is OK, other Cantrips are pretty useless for you.
Drow for Rogue
Is Drow a good race for Rogue? Yes, but not as good as Elf IMO. Kinda like Elves, but with a better version of Darkvision. Sadly, without the bonus movespeed - and worse proficiencies. But, I have to say Enhanced Darkvision is OP.
Human for Rogue
Is Human a good race for Rogue? No. Specifically because Human is pretty bad in BG3. Unless you want a spear-wielding Rogue... This is no for me.
Githyanki for Rogue
Is Githyanki a good race for Rogue? Its OK. Not terrible, not amazing. Astral Knowledge is always good. Mage Hand is cute. The proficiencies aren't amazing, though.
Dwarf for Rogue
Is Dwarf a good race for Rogue? So-so. The low movespeed kills it for me, but you do have a lot of little bonuses to survivability.
Half-Elf for Rogue
Is Half-Elf a good race for Rogue? It's Yes! You get almost everything the Elf gets, but with the Spear and Shield proficiencies - the latter might be useful for you. If you don't ever plan to Dual Wield this may be a solid choice.
Halfling for Rogue
Is Halfling a good race for Rogue? Can be, but Deep Gnome is better. If you want the bonus to Stealth, Lightfoot Halfling has it too, but you give up too much for what... Lucky isn't bad but I value the Deep Gnome traits more.
Gnome for Rogue
Is Gnome a good race for Rogue? Yes! Deep Gnome has upgraded stealth, better saving throws on stats you don't typically have a lot of, and enhanced Darkvision.
Dragonborn for Rogue
Is Dragonborn a good race for Rogue? No. I don't imagine Dragonborn being the default "best" choice for any class really. You can make some fun niche builds maximizing their breath weapon and resist, but that's another discussion alltogether.
Half-Orc for Rogue
Is Half-Orc a good race for Rogue? Yes. The crit buff can work with the typical assassin build, and it will definitely give you some bonus damage very often. The small weapon dice of the typical Rogue weapons don't benefit "too much" from their crit passive but It's an avenue you can explore.
