Recommended BG3 Rogue starting stats

If you don't wanna read too much into it, here's a TLDR for Rogue. This would be my answer "if I was FORCED to provide ONE SETUP" that might please as many people as possible.

This works for Thief or Assassin, but NOT Arcane Trickster - i'll add a segment on that soon.

• Strength: 8. Base 8 No Modifiers.
• Dexterity: 16. Base 14 +2 Ability Score Modifier.
• Constitution: 16. Base 15 +1 Ability Score Modifier.
• Intelligence: 10. Base 10 No Modifiers.
• Wisdom: 10. Base 10 No Modifiers.
• Charisma: 14. Base 14 No Modifiers.

There may be some races in BG3 with a different Ability Score modifier bonus (we shall see), but I hope you get the idea.

The "8" Stat can be STR, INT, or WIS. I chose 14 CHA as an option for your rogue to double up as a conversational character.

Don't like negative bonuses? Honestly, Rogue is pretty flexible. Reduce your CHA. and get STR to 10 to fix it simply. Another option is reduce CHA to 12, then live with a single negative "for a little while" by going STR 9 / DEX 17 into 10 / 18 on your first stat bonuses.

Stats, and starting stats are pretty nuanced and can hinge on Feats as well - but if you're looking for guidance on something workable, again, I can only do so much for a quick recommendation.

BG3 Rogue starting stats: Why?

The summary for Rogue is:
DEX > CON: most important CHA "optional". STR > INT > WIS: lesser importance.

Strength

Doesn't have much of a use for Rogue.

Dexterity

Ranged weapon and Finesse weapon damage among other Rogue-y things.

Constitution

Is always good to have. More HP / Survivability.

Intelligence

Doesn't have much of a use for Rogue (UNLESS ARCANE TRICKSTER).

Wisdom

Doesn't have much of a use for Rogue.

Charisma

For conversation, but otherwise not useful.
