BG3 Great Weapon Master Feat

Info on the Great Weapon Master BG3 Feat. Tips, when to use, is it worth it, is it good?

Great Weapon Master is a Feat in Baldurs Gate 3. Here's a short guide on it on what it does (and clarifications), as well as "is Great Weapon Master good?" "is Great Weapon Master worth it?".

Great Weapon Master Effects

As per the in-game description: When you land a Critical Hit or kill a target with a melee weapon attack, you can make another melee weapon attack as a bonus action that turn. Attacks with Heavy melee weapons you are Proficient with, can deal an additional 10 damage at the cost of -5 Attack Roll penalty. (You can toggle this on and off.).

Great Weapon Master mechanics clarifications

The bonus action only triggers after a crit or kill WITH A MELEE WEAPON. This then can ONLY be used for another MELEE WEAPON ATTACK.

The toggle is a "+Damage -Accuracy" when attacking is only available for HEAVY weapons.

Is Great Weapon Master worth it?

So, is Great Weapon Master good? When would you take Great Weapon Master? Yes, it's absolutely amazing for any melee character, and doubly so for Heavy / Two-handed type melee character.

The toggle is huge. +10 damage is no joke, and -5 accuracy isn't as bad as it sounds. You can easily blunt this downside with Advantage and a myriad of buffs. +10 Damage, however, isn't easily obtained otherwise.

Be wary of taking this feat with characters that have tons of uses for their bonus action. You don't generate one - you get the "right" to use one for another attack.

DO NOT be take with Dual Wield / Two Weapon type characters (See: Dual Wielder)

Notably the Champion fighter subclass increases your critical roll range!
