D4 Sorcerer Leveling Guide & Build

Looking to level up quickly and easily? Welcome to our Diablo 4 Sorcerer Leveling Guide! The important most important chunks of info here are:

  • Sorcerer Leveling Notes by Level.
  • Sorcerer Leveling Build by Skillpoint.

This is designed to be used TOGETHER WITH:
D4 General ALL CLASSES Leveling Guide.

I'll be adding other segments during this next beta, like an intro to subsystems, among other things. For now, enjoy!

+/- Buttons and Searching by text isn't implemented yet.

Reminders by level:

There are alot of viable basic skills. While I recommend Spark, feel free to try the others. Each has its own merits and you might be surprised to find something else you like.
Right about now you'll be here with your skill tree, and yes, I do recommend both Teleport and Ice Armor. While you don't need Ice Armor ASAP, you might as well pick it up now.
Sadly, the active skills in the Mastery Tree kinda suck. They require too much support from passives and other effects... AKA Skill Points we don't have right now. Thankfully, that means we can double up on Defensive skills: Teleport and Ice Armor.
The priority quest Legacy of the Magi unlocks the Enchantment system. The enchantment system is basically an extra "passive". Each of your active skills correspond to a passive Enchantment effect. Note that you can only use a skill that you have learned (even if the skillpoint is gained via gear) can be used in the Enchantment slot. There are quite a few interesting effects here! You'll get another slot at L30!
You've burned the midnight oil and reached L25 Sorc. Good job! Shocking right? Try leveling another class!

Since there are so few right now, I'll just make them all visible by default...

Leveling Build by Skillpoint:

While all of the Sorcs Basic skills are great, Spark gets the nod from me since it's safe (ranged) while packing a good punch and having good synergies.
Basically forced to get this. Not a waste since we want the node after later on.
It's already pretty good now, but once you fully upgrade it Chain Lightning really shines in many scenarios.
More Critical Strike Chance, why not.
Chain Lightning can bounce to us. Ah, wow ABUSE THIS NODE. This makes Chain Lightning an incredbily powerful single target spell while being good against small clumps. You can dodge your own Chain Lightning so take a little extra care to stand still for a split second when you cast it.
(I forgot the passive name - will update asap) Gives us a stacking Critical Hit Chance when we Spark. It all adds up for the huge Chain Lightnings.
Straight up amazing for traveling or repositioning. A classic Diablo spellcaster skill!
An incredible defensive tool. We don't even need to invest points further into it! You gain more barrier if the more damage you deal, so make sure it doesnt vanish ASAP before you can grow your shield. While I dislike taking two spells from the same tree for the leveling guides, this one's an exception.
Well, taking more damage doesn't sound so exciting but sorc is relatively safe. Even for WT2, this should be fine for most. Try it out first, I promise it'll work out!
Upgrade Glass Cannon to Level 2.
Upgrade Glass Cannon to Level 3.
Godlike workhorse. Absolutely unfair skill that helps you in almost any Scenario. I recommend casting this before any large fight. Especially useful against elites and bosses. You get a gut feel later on when you don't need to Hydra up, if you think your initial burst of Chain Lightnings will take care of them.
Hydra gains an extra head when you're Healthy. You know what they say, 5head is better than 4.
Since we crit rather regularly, this helps against fatter enemies. It's semi optional, you can improve Chain Lightning instead if you're feeling weak against clumps.
Upgrade Chain Lightning to Level 2.
You can take this now, or later - basically we want this once we hit L20 for our Enhancement. More in the notes section! Feel free to use it if you like, as well, but the skill slot will be replaced by our ultimate in time.
Upgrade Chain Lightning to Level 3.
Upgrade Chain Lightning to Level 4. None of the new skills are actually that useful. We will continue to lean heavily into CL.
Pretty good versus bosses, and offers great anti-oneshot potential against World Bosses and such. Anti-salt, just take it.
Upgrade Align the Elements to Level 2. This point actually reduces the time it takes to charge by half, so it's really worth it.
Upgrade Chain Lightning to Level 5.
Connected to the Align the Elements passive, this just makes us a little tankier when we use our cooldowns.
You can freely use this up on whatever, Upgrading to Spark Level 2 might be best, or add a defensive point. Up to you. I cannot meaningfully add a point in the build elsewhere or setup future synergies with the current BETA limitations.
A godly and fun ultimate that basically casts any other non-basic Shock skill when we cast any Shock skill. Shocking.
You mean I can generate MORE random spells!?
DO NOT take the last upgrade for Unstable Currents. I honestly think this passive is more meaningful; as your final point, since we don't have a lot of Crackling Energy synergies.
You only get 26 points for Beta! Go level up another class!

I will implement a visual limitation on these soon, maybe the previous and next 3 are only shown.

Sorcerer Important Notes by Level (plain text)

Here are the level by level notes presented plainly. Obviously this will expand over time as we can level to max. Note that these are for Sorcerer specifically, and the general notes are found in the general guide.
