Sometimes, you just wanna have fun. While talking about video games, that almost sounds a little weird. But yeah, sometimes… You just want some pure fun. I can’t put my finger on it but Stand Survivors does just that.

“I can’t wait to try out the Skeleton King stand!
But I wonder how much gold L2 Financial Advisor gives?”
*An actual statement you can make while playing this game

With a surprising 100+ (and GROWING) number of weapons, crazy evolution TREES, along with many great design choices, I hope to explain just HOW and WHY you should check this game out in our Stand Survivors Review.

Wait… how many weapons?

Yeah. More than 100. Ok so it might be a bit of an exaggeration because it includes 2 star and 3 star upgrades of a weapon (But they do sometimes change in meaningful ways). HOWEVER the demo has a ton of weapons and evolutions still “not available in the demo”.

If you’re wondering, you can have up to 8 Stands at a time (Stands are the weapons in this game). Many of these also have passive effects tacked onto to them – some very interesting ones like permanently stacking stat boosts after X seconds, or gaining resources every X seconds.

Crazy evolutions? What exactly do you mean…

Furthermore, the evolutions are no less absurd. For example, and I never thought I’d type out this paragraph but here goes…

  • L3 Revolver Gunner = Sharpshooter.
  • L2 Fire Elemental + L2 Blacksmith = Engineer.
  • L2 Fire Elemental + L2 Soldier = Rocket Soldier.
  • Sharpshooter + Engineer + Rocket Soldier = Helicopter.

Yes. In the same game “Mage Apprentice”, and “Greatsword Guard” –
We have “Helicopter”.

Not to mention “Rebel Teenager”, and of course “Office Worker”. To remind you Helicopter comes from “Engineer”, “Rocket Soldier”, and “Sharpshooter”. Which of course needs 6x “Fire Elemental” prior.

I wasn’t kidding when I said “a lot”. Also, on the right is the Helicopter. Yeah. Helicopter.

Each run just seems FUNNER

Humor aside, compared to most other ‘survivors-likes’ and ‘bullet heavens’, Stand Survivors just seems to stand out. Instead of thinking of each run as a means to an end for meta progression, I’m genuinely excited to start a new run!

I never felt I wanted to complete a run just to grind.
There’s always something dumb or cool I wanted to try.

Either you try to force a build, try something new, or work with what the game throws at you… it always seems like you stand to gain some new form of fun in each run!

There’s bosses with actual attack patterns… The bosses are timed so you can’t slack off with DPS… there are special enemies… There are exciting evolutions to shoot for…

I don’t know how to put it but it’s simply just that. Stand Survivors is just more fun overall than MOST other bullet heavens / survivors likes out there (for me at least).

Meta Progression & Other Systems

Like most of these games, Stand Survivors also has some meta progression. It’s pretty simple fare. The usual primarily stat-based upgrades that carry over to each run, making you a little bit more powerful each time.

Characters are a more interesting facet here. In the demo we have the “Muscle” character available to us. Each character has their own long list of passives and “set bonuses” that improve as you use them (as they level up via meta progression). For example Muscle gets Max HP per level, and gets bonuses the more unique L2 stand you equip. Each character eventually becomes something unique that might push you towards a build or playstyle.

Notes to the developer!

Devs if you ever read this, here’s some of my feedback for improvement!

1 – The forging system is a little meh, basically you get RNG items during each run that don’t carry over. It’s not bad, but it just feels extremely based on RNG. It’s fairly exciting, but can feel really bad if let’s say, you’re going for a physical build but get magic items.

To those that don’t know, here’s how it works. You forge random items with ore you get during the run. Then, you combine 2 of the same ones to get a random equipment one tier higher. Random is the kicker here. Imagine getting something completely useless to your build.

2 – The “tracking” of what Stands you need is a little buggy sometimes but I’m sure it will get fixed shortly down the line.

Summary, Outro, Related Info & Links

Well, overall, I can say I truly recommend this game for any fan of the genre. There’s a demo so you can’t really go wrong, right? It’s just funner. Pure and simple, it’s SOMEHOW just funner.

You can’t tell me I’m the only one who has always wanted to field a Helicopter alongside “Gandalf” vs hordes of enemies. Well, you can in Stand Survivors – and I hope our mini-review helped point you in the right direction.

Funny elements aside, Stand Survivors doesn’t need these gimmicks to stand out amongst its peers – it’s just a solid fun game through and through.
