Help! I can't use those skills because they're from the same category! (Turn On Elective Mode)

If you’re not allowed to put two skills on your bar because they’re from the same category – FEAR NOT! This isn’t a bug or a permanent in-game restriction. You simply have to CHECK ON ELECTIVE MODE, via Esc > Options > Gameplay > Elective Mode!

Binding Force Move to Mousewheel up & down is a value change that every player should make IMO. It prevents misclicks and skill misfires, and forces you to move to where otherwise an enemy might be.

Stat Priority & Rerolls

Keep in mind the re-rolls change a little if you’re going all-in on a Hack based strategy, all-in on a Bombardment-centric setup, or a mix of both.

Ok, this can get a little messy, but here’s a rundown

  • STR is obvious, the only place it’s possible not to roll is is MAYBE amulet.
  • Thorns should be in every piece, except Justice Lantern which cannot roll it.
  • Phys% is better here than with Invoker’s, since it affects hack.
  • Bombardment% is found on chest and shoulders, it’s up to you if you want it.
  • CDR is IMPORTANT – You NEED 56% sheet CDR for 100% Champion uptime.

I hope you understand what I’m tryin’ to say up here, they just serve as examples. Please use a tool like d3planner to make sure what your totals look like.

Amulet and Glove are the worst places for CDR, since you can roll huge stats on them. The middle table seems to be the best balance. You will lose 2 CHD rolls on 2 rings (or glove, its okay as long as you don’t lose STR or VIT)

Critical related stats are useless: ATTACK SPEED is the only other DPS stat you have aside from STR, Thorns and somehow CDR.

Justice Lantern cannot roll Thorns. Its secondary is locked to “CC duration down”.

Life on Hit is a very important DEFENSIVE STAT. Bracers, Weapon, Helmet are OK. Amulet is a rather unknown but large source of LoH. Try to get a healthy amount.

ROLL THE DAMAGE RANGE OFF YOUR WEAPON: Since Thorns doesn’t care about weapon damage, you can get an extra stat off your mainhand.

Playing the Build

The build plays exactly like Invoker’s or LoN bomb, or a mix of both depending on your setup. What does this mean? Well, first of all we start with what’s unique about this build:

Akarat’s Champion should be up 100% of the time, and your re-rolls should facilitate this. It increases your base power by leaps and bounds. The rune we usually choose is Prophet, which is a free death every 20 seconds – powerful!

Hack/Bombardment hybrids are a great start – you can edit your build to your liking after you get a feel of the standard build. I personally like the Hybrid given the type of content you’re going to clear with this set (I don’t think you can go super high up, but it’s an extremely fast farming build that can “get up there” in GR levels.)

Iron Skin-Reflective Skin is a godlike offensive and defensive cooldown. Don’t hold on to it, it’s up every 15s (or less!) with the CDR of this build. (In builds with CoE, always use it on the physical cycle! The damage is unbelievable!)

I like the hybrid setup since you won’t feel useless at any point. While Invoker is more suited hunting elites, this build can both high density rifts, and elites to a good enough extent, preventing getting effed up by rift RNG.

Variations and Evolutions

I’ll get more insights into this as the season progresses and will update accordingly.

Items

Items: There’s a few choices here and there…

Hack and Mortal Drama are your main DPS increasing weapons, but each of them requires investing to certain stats. If you choose to go ONE path, there are other options for you.

Removing Justice Lantern (RISKY): For Convention of Elements. It’s an INCREASE in DPS for a DECREASE in toughness. It’s a change for multiplayer or lesser rifts.

Skills

Skills: Oh my, there’s NOT much room at all here.

Consecration is your crappiest skill here. It is usually replaced by a Law.

Punish can be removed if you’re going all-in with Bombardment damage. Replacements are the same as the above bullet points.

Speedfarming? Build Changes

Akkhan’s Thorns is a really good speedfarming baseline. Read these resources about it – It’s the current best setup, even beating out LoN Thorns IMO. Read up a bit on speedfarming!

Main Changes

1 passive and 2 items makes this build a speedfarming monstrosity. Norvald’s Set on this setup is extremely good, and is even a contender for non-speed builds. +100% damage is not a joke, and the uptime is quite high given the
