Hello! Here we talk about Barbarian set: Wrath of the Wastes builds. Let’s start it off by posting the “standard” build of the set.

There are two possible wastes builds, but the Rend variant isn’t so good anymore so I’ll put it in Page 2.

Help! I can't use those skills because they're from the same category! (On Elective Mode)

If you’re not allowed to put two skills on your bar because they’re from the same category – FEAR NOT! This isn’t a bug or a permanent in-game restriction. You simply have to CHECK ON ELECTIVE MODE, via Esc > Options > Gameplay > Elective Mode!

Binding Force Move to Mousewheel up & down is a value change that every player should make IMO. It prevents misclicks and skill misfires, and forces you to move to where otherwise an enemy might be.

Wrath of the Wastes Build Notes, Questions, Options

Weapon Choice?

Istvan’s Paired Blades VS Bul’Kathos’s Oath

Unless you know what you’re doing, Bul’Kathos’s Oath is likely the correct choice. While Istvan’s gives some toughness and a damage boost, Fury generation becomes a problem. It is possible. You’ll also be surprised how good the +Movespeed is from BK.

Passives

Boon of Bul-Kathos is, I’d say, mandatory. Reducing cooldown on Wrath of the Berserker is a must. Rampage is your best DPS passive, so you’re likely not going to drop this either.

Weapons Master is another really good one that you would need to think deeply before replacing.

This leaves you with one, at most two pseudo open passives. Some suggestions are given in the build table above.

Gems?

Tryharding:
Taeguk | Pain Enhancer | Bane of the Stricken

Chumpy & Speed Content:
Taeguk | Gogok (Pain Enhancer) | Open (Powerful, Hoarder, Pain Enhancer)

Gogok of Swiftness? This is a sleeper hit for Wastes. It gives you CDR and ASPD, as well as some dodge. It sucks in large groups (compared to Pain Enhancer 25), but it a lot better in single target RG’s. Keep Gogok in mind while you’re “building up” your true set.

Taeguk and Pain Enhancer are pretty much the only two common gems between the two setups.

Skills?

You can play around with the runes – there’s a ton of viable picks. However in terms of open skill slots, the only “loose” skill is Threatening Shout.

MINI REROLL DISCLAIMER

Remember that this is for standard to high-end use – THE ABSOLUTE HIGHEST RIFT CLEARS will look a bit different. (Example being, CDR, ASPD or AD in place of Strength in certain slots like rings)

Defensive stats: while these rerolls will give you a good balanced pile of toughness, the EXACT ROLLS YOU NEED will depend on the entirety of your set and is best manually calculated.

Multiplayer? Changes a lot. If you’re into multiplayer you can warp your build in many ways. Lesser defense… lesser sustainability… MORE AREA DAMAGE!

Wastes Cooldown Reduction? How much?

First of all, let’s discuss the amount of CDR you should ALWAYS HAVE.

Helm: Flawless Royal Diamond
Shoulder
Ring: Obsidian Ring always rills with CDR
Weapons x2

This brings you to a sheet CDR of 46, giving 80% uptime on Ignore Pain-Iron Hide, with a 6 second Pride of Cassius. More often than not, Zodiac‘s proc will raise this to 100% uptime.

The same is true for Wrath of the Berserker – no matter how hard you try you will never practically reach true 100% uptime – Zodiac has to do the heavy lifting.

Zodiac scales very well off channeling skills (Whirlwind), as you use resources to attack many times a second.

After the above slots, you can get CDR on rings and glove – but I would prefer Area Damage or something else…

There isn’t a magic number: “Have enough CDR to have 100% uptime on IP
and Wrath while fighting (single target)”

Weapon rerolls?

CDR is mandatory, from there DMG% AD or VIT are all good.
