Welcome to Page 2! Here on forward I list other viable speed farming builds, in this page we talk about Unhallowed Essence Multishot! I cannot say truly that this build is “outdated”, as it has its pros and cons.

Build General Notes & Options

I’ll be adding more of these notes and evolutions soon – I just want to finish the first pass for all classes first. – BRGMahiko

This very popular speedfarm build is about as basic as it gets. Unhallowed Essence + Multishot is a time honored pair. The somewhat recent addition of Captain Crimsons set plus the absurd amount of RCR on Yang’s Recurve make it a gross combo. Massive AoE, easy to use, no BS. Good ol UE Multishot. Here we talk about some loose options and notes for build.

Equipment Notes

I would say the items are locked in place. The only consideration I would make FOR SPEEDFARMING is wether I can support Squirts or not, in favor of The Flavor of Time or another generic amulet like Hellfire.

Cube Notes

Dawn and Ring of Royal Grandeur are never gonna change, but that body cube slot is quite flexible. Visage of Gunes for toughness. Reaper’s Wraps or Cindercoat for resource management. Sadly, there’s no “amazing” DPS or mobility increase here. One overlooked option is Gloves of Worship, which is pretty good in Nephs.

Skill Notes

UE6 is pretty rigid, typicall with only one open skill slot. While you can have some fancy evolutions PURELY for speedfarming (Multishot – Wind Chill or Full Broadside), I would say don’t stray from Arsenal unless you know what you’re doing. The open skill slot (represented by Companion – Bat in the build above) is usually a toughness utility skill like Companion – Boar, or Sentry – Polar Station, or Guardian Turret. You got one completely open skill slot, so have fun!

Passive Notes

You have two open Passive slots here, as IMO Ballistics and Ambush are locked in. Blood Vengeance is great for resource management and suits a speedfarming build. Leech and Awareness are your best defensive options. Tactical Advantage is your best mobility passive, so only let go of it if you MUST – Hot Pursuit is a distant second.

Legendary Gem Notes

Zeis is locked in almost any content type you want to do. Powerful is locked FOR SPEEDFARMING.

Trapped is actually quite bad for you since it’s actually quite difficult to trigger it. If you decide to use Thrill of the Hunt, that’s basically a GEM+PASSIVE combo, (which at least lets you also use Cull the Weak).

Nitpick incoming

While using Thrill of the Hunt is completely acceptable to “more easily” trigger trapped, the nit-picky speedfarmer inside me HAS to point it out that this doesn’t really help our one-shot potential (not that it actually matters that much). There IS a fancy build evolution that uses cold Multishot (it slows before damage), but meh, that’s bordering on the extreme side of the DH speed farming discussion…

TLDR Most people would (and correctly so) use Zeis, Powerful and Trapped for speedfarming, replacing Powerful into Stricken for Tryharding.

Stats and Reroll Notes

REMEMBER THAT UNHALLOWED ESSENCE WANTS (Secondary Stat)
+MAX DISCIPLINE IN CHEST, WEAPON and OFFHAND!

But, I wont be responsible for ruining your primal ancient. I can’t tell you how many times I get asked “What should I roll on my Yangs/UE Chest/Deadmans”. Calculate it for yourself and weigh what you lose. But, in terms of damage and speed – it’s going to be hard to beat a Discipline roll.

Generally speaking: If you’re going from 0 discipline to 12, great.
But if you’re going from like 9-11 to 12… you might want to fix another stat.

Summary and Outro

Best Demon Hunter Speedfarming Builds:
P1: Dreadlands Strafe HA | P2: Unhallowed Essence Multishot

It’s no surprise that Multishot Unhallowed Essence is the best speed farming build for Demon Hunter – it’s a damn classic, and a benchmark for all other classes speedfarming builds to aim for. Have fun raking it in!

  1. Hi, it says for legendary gems to use bane of the trapped with the build. There are no skills that use a slow though so wouldn’t bane of the powerful be better than bane of the trapped?

  2. What’s the plan behind cubing the gloves of worship? They don’t work in rifts, do they? Am I supposed to farm for shrines in bounties once every 10 minutes?

    • Hmm? They work perfectly fine in nonGR’s. (Nephalem Rifts). They’re best used when you are farming normal rifts for a long stretch of time. They’re ok in bounties, too.
