You’ll find all sorts of information here regarding the Ranger Veteran Career (for Bardin Goreksson) in Vermintide 2. The Ranger Veteran is a surprisingly GREAT starter class, who helps carry teams past the awkward early and mid-game. This career is one of the few which helps with your teams’ ammunition management and even “makes” potions!

Ranger Veteran Early Game Starer – Talent Choice Discussion

L5 Talent - Apply Pressure

Apply Pressure is great EARLY ON and maybe retains usefulness later depending on how much self-healing you and your party are packing. If you don’t like defense, take any of the other two talents.

Hunter’s Eye is probably best IF you like/want the reduced spread. Better versus bosses and specials. Don’t bother with it if your current weapon doesn’t support it.

Foe-Feller is just a generic 5% ASPD increase which won’t make anyone sad.

L10 Talent - Last Resort

Last Resort (+dmg when no ammo) is a little strange to have on this career, huh? But it is what it is – it’s not like your ranged DPS is great… simply give away the ammo to your friends and get the bonuses of this passive. If you want to pewpew more, choose something else like…

Curl Up (50% armor while disabled) is okay… It depends how bad your teammates are?

No Dawdling (5% movespeed) is little underwhelming. I don’t know how good 5% really is in a defensive scenario…

Ultimately, Last Resort seems just plain better than any of the other choices.

L15 Talent - Battle-Brew

Battle-Brew (gives bombs) now tell me who’s gonna be mad having this on hand?

Master Brewer (passive sometimes grants potions) is probably the best choice LATER on. But honestly, it can shine at any point in the game. Some people just love holding on to potions too long, though. So make sure to chug ’em yourself.

Grungni‘s Cunning (+passive ammo drops) isn’t bad… I guess it depends how impactful a few bullets are. It depends on you and your team’s weapon type. But I guess extra ammo ain’t so bad.

L20 Talent - Grudge-Borne

Grudge-Borne (THP on kill) is better early on since you don’t have any built-in crit.

Just Drunk Enough should replace Grudge-borne if ever you gain enough crit to support its use. After all, if all four party members have the “on kill heal”, sharing gets hard.

Grimnir’s Champion (heal on boss kill) is just bad.

L25 Talent - Catch a Breath

Catch a Breath (+20hp on concealment) isn’t amazing but healing is healing. This talent may end up getting old REAL FAST as you gain more ways to manage health. Sure saves you in a pinch, though.

Preparation (30% concealment recharge) is generic but decent. Porbably the best choice later on.

Ranger’s Ambush (concealment up to 14s) is pretty okay but the problem is simply that its TOO LONG to ever maximize the effect!

Remember the above recommendations are primarily suited to be good for “most people”, specifically for “early to midgame” when gear drops can’t easily be tailor fit to your needs.

MORE DISCUSSION TO COME AS THE DAYS PASS!

Well that’s about it (FOR NOW) regarding Bardin Goreksson’ Ranger Veteran Career path in Vermintide 2. While the Ranger Veteran ain’t so flashy, it serves as a great supporting party member in the early game. Late game, free potions can be extremely useful still!
