S18 Season of Triune and YOU

In S18, the seasonal bonus DIRECTLY BENEFITS any character, at any point in their progression – which is great seeing as this is a “Fresh Level 70” guide.

A chance to gain an “occulus ring” of any one of the following: Damage, CDR, or RCR, is a godly bonus. While RCR isn’t so hot, and CDR depends on build – ANYONE CAN BENEFIT FROM DOUBLE DAMAGE!

Luckily, this makes our leveling and progression journey a little easier this time around.

Fresh 70 Barbarian: Getting the Free Set!

Raekor is disgustingly strong as a fresh ungeared character –
even 4 pieces
is enough to own. This will be an easy journey!

Click below to reveal the instructions you need for each step:

IMPORTANT: Setting up!

Getting decent items are a mustSTR+VIT on everything is a good place to start. Sockets in chest, pants, weapons, and accessories should be in there, too. REROLLING YELLOWS is amazing, and people forget you can even do it!

BARB IS A STRENGTH CHARACTER. You get TONS armor for free, for each point in Strength. Reroll Armor for ALLRES!

Any character that gains Armor from their main stat means you get too much of it by default. So in the case of Barb, REROLL ANY ARMOR ON GEAR INTO ALLRES, VIT or any other useful stat. You have so much Armor that it’s diluted!

2H Mighty Weapon: I recommend this since you can roll Life per Fury Spent (and optionally, even Life per Hit). Raekor sucks at self-healing and defense will be a problem for you way before offense will be. Strength, Vit, Socket are also good stats.

Belt: Life on Fury Spent appears on MIGHTY BELT too, and there’s no excuse not to ever have it rolled on. STR LPFS VIT RES is what you’re aiming for.

Bracer & Necklace: rolls with Elemental% with how Raekor’s 4pc works (all runes) it doesn’t really matter which one you have, as long as you match the rune. Value!

Furious Charge% rolls on Shoulder and Chest, if you’re wondering.

Elemental% – AS LONG AS YOU ROLL THE SAME ONE between bracer and necklace. Since FC gains the effect of all runes.

Sockets on Rings & Amulet: Seriously, try to find/fix this up as soon as possible. You’re gonna need ’em when legendary gems come along.

Body + Legs: You get these pieces last. Don’t worry if you have “pretty bad” ones, since you’ll progress really fast.

Gems: You’ll need quite a few gems. Here’s what’s gonna give you the highest impact ASAP.

  • Diamonds x5 for body: gives ALLRES which shores up our terrible defense.
  • Amethyst on helm: +Life%, again for defense.
  • As the game progresses, you’ll want a Diamond on helm (+CDR).

Bring out Templar for some free healing and Fury, and a pet to pick up those gold coins.

  • Armor – you have too much of it. Go for ALLRES
  • Life Regen – trash tier stat. Not impactful at all.
  • CDR and RCR – too much is not needed, especially in unrefined early builds.
  • ASPD – is usually for end-game refinement.

Take GREAT STATS such as…

  • STR & VIT – your core stats. It’s hard to get too much
  • ALLRES – is SUPER IMPORTANT for your defenses.
  • Any CRIT STAT – can’t go wrong with these.
  • Life Per Hit / Life per Spirit Spent– is very useful early on. Great rolls on temporary items.

It’s not about getting the perfect stats right now – but getting “good ones”, while avoiding useless ones.

Customize Skill Bindings

If you’re not allowed to put two skills on your bar because they’re from the same category – FEAR NOT! This isn’t a bug or a permanent in-game restriction. You simply have to CHECK ON ELECTIVE MODE, via Esc > Options > Gameplay > Elective Mode!

Binding Force Move to Mouse wheel up & down is a value change that every player should make IMO. It prevents misclicks and skill misfires, and forces you to move to where otherwise an enemy might be.

Ah… good ‘ol Rend WW Frenzy. This “catch all” Barb build will suit your needs and more. It’s pretty much a speedfarming build! I put a lot of brainless self-healing in the build, but feel free to adjust it to your liking.

Season Journey Chapter 4: Getting the 6 piece set

Here’s how it works. the 4-pc Raekor set bonus gives you ALL RUNES of Furious Charge, so just use the rune that aligns with any elemental% bonus you have on your gear. No matter which rune you pick – using ANY or NO rune on the skill bar still activates ALL RUNES.

If you’re telling yourself “This build looks funny”, that’s because it is. Generate TONS OF FURY and dump it with Boulder Toss. Use Ground Stomp or Leap to gather piles and wreck them with Boulders or ChargeIf you mess up your charge and run out often, change Leap to Frenzy (chump).

***Pressing Shift+J (Default) opens up your Seasonal Journey tracker!***

Before you enter the GR20 arena, try completing first the other entries in this chapter. This will not only help you get used to the build playstyle but it can also mean better gear loot.

Upgrade a Rare to Legendary w/ Kanai’s Cube: Upgrade 2H Polearm (Spear) for a chance on snagging Standoff! It is THE ONLY choice.

Complete a Torment I Rift: This wont be so hard, as it’s only a step up from the previous chapter. Enjoy it while it lasts! ‘Cause the torments are goin’ up and up soon!

Set Difficulty Torment IIKill Izual – Act IV, The Silver Spire Level 1

Set Difficulty Torment IVYou gotta kill some bosses here, lots of walking involved!

  • Kill Zoltun Kulle – Act II, Archives of Zoltun Kulle

  • Kill Sokahr the Keywarden in ACT II, Dahlgur Oasis.
  • Kill Xah’Rith – the Keywarden in ACT III, Stonefort.
  • Kill Nekarat the Keywarden in ACT IV, Gardens of Hope 2nd Tier.
  • Keywardens maps have a key icon next to the waypoint. Purple arrows point you to their location after a short while once you’re in their respective map.

Almost there! You only need to compete GR20! But before that, make sure that it’s unlocked for you. If not, just do a couple of the highest GR you’re allowed to do! Check out the next clicky for anything GR20 related stuff.

Barbarian GR 20: 4pc Legacy of Raekor

This is super easy. Raekor 4 is extremely powerful.

FIX PARAGONS: Str | CDR | All Res | LpH

For “reference”, here were my stats and what I tested with:

  • NO ‘special’ legendaries aside from the Legacy of Raekor 4-pc Free Set.
  • NO Pylons taken.
  • NO Legendary Gems.
  • NO Cubed powers used.
  • Remaining Time:”lol”

I take some overly defensive choices here because YOU WILL NOT HAVE A SHORTAGE of DPS! There is no foreseeable way for you to fail this with even the bare minimum level 70 gear. The defensive overload make this an ANTI-RNG setup to make sure you can clear any and all kinds of rifts and guardians.

Yes, a faster build might get you to the boss quicker, but what happens if you have too little sustain to kill Voracity or Blighter?

It makes no difference if you wanna be a fancypants and clear in 1 minute. The build above will definitely net you a clear, and doesn’t care even if you have the junkiest defensive stats rolled in your yellows.

The only true prerequisite is having
“non GARBAGE” Level 70 yellow gear
in all other slots.

Free Raekor pieces – early game reroll stat priority:

War Cry Invigorate (Veteran’s Warning)

I’ll slowly push you towards an IK6 R4 setup! Good ol charge farming!

Honestly, many of the skills are open. You only need Furious Charge!

With R6any fury spender we use will be MASSIVELY buffedBoulder Toss is great, but feel free to play around with Seismic Slam or whatever. Watch Rift Guardians explode with a 5-stack spender!

If you’re confident: fit Sprint-Marathon into the build (a great “fury dump”).

As you’re proceeding with the next steps, keep these important things in mind!

Gear Review & Fixing up

Furious Charge% rolls on Chest and Shoulder. If you have terrible stats on those pieces, feel free to reroll some crap like LpS/Armor/RCR into FC%.

Elemental% on Bracer, Amulet: another 2 rerolls for 30-40% power spike. Value. Since we can use any rune (all are active via the Raekor set bonus), we can choose any element and stack it. PERSONALLY, try to gun for Physical% on more permanent gear since it modifies Ancient Spear-Boulder Toss.

Mighty Belt & Life per Fury Spent, as oft mentioned. While you may or may not have the luxury to roll it on your weapon, it MUST BE ON THE BELT! Remember to roll it on the BARB SPECIFIC “Mighty Belt”.

Weapons: Rerolling weapons is a guide in and of itself, but this early on, Life per Hit or Life per Fury Spent will cover up where your build severely lacks right now – self-healing.

Sockets on rings & Amulet: Find/make them soon, since legendary gems are our next objective! Bonus if you can get STR+Crit related stats!

Don’t neglect gems! It’s very likely you’ll be using Diamonds in the body slots. ALLRES is no joke when it comes to increasing your toughness.

Gaining Power!

Now we have to gain as much power, as quickly as possible.

Legendary Gems

This is the easiest way to gain power simply because acquiring them has little to no RNG. Getting 3 of your best gems will increase your power dramatically in a short timespan.

Click on the tabs to see The Legacy of Raekor “Big 3” gems and “others”.

Legacy of Raekor Fresh 70: Big 3 GemsOther gems?

Get these three to L25 ASAP:

Bane of the Powerful is a great gem to 25 asap. Helps out against elites and is “at full power” once it hits 25. Great to upgrade first, and let it chill.

Bane of the Trapped is a basic DPS gem. Autofreeze triggers this via Charge, but since we… you know… tackle dudes… the L25 gem bonus will be a sure trigger.

No other DPS gem will truly help you right now.
You need to shore up your defenses!

Moratorium: Trusty ‘ol Moratorium. 25 points in this guy is like a mini Unity. You MUST have Life per Hit / Life per Fury Spent (or the Templar heal skills…). It’s rather useless without self-healing. You can use it for augments when you don’t need it any more. Alternatively, you can straight up go Esoteric Alteration.

Any other gems worth it?

Bane of the Stricken is absolutely necessary in the LATE GAME for almost any build. Even if you don’t end up using Raekor, it’s always nice to have a buff Stricken.

Esoteric Alteration is the late game defensive gem of choice. Almost all high-end Raekor builds will use this (Moratorium makes a good substitute for now).

Boon of the Hoarder: You need this for speedfarming – get it up to 50 ASAP!
(See: Speedfarming General, Barb Speedfarming General, Best Barb Speedfarming)

Try to get the Top 3 gems to level 25 as soon as possible. Just do some efficient point farming. GR34 is enough to level a gem to 25!

Playing the Build & Adjustments

Now that you have the base “power level” of your 6 set and gems, let’s take a short time to review How to Play the Build. Here’s some basic tips for playing The Legacy of Raekor to help you as you progress into higher difficulties. It’s by no means comprehensive, but helpful.

Also, as you progress and get items, your build may have a weak point here and there that you can patch up given the simple skill, rune, and passive changes listed below.

Playing Raekor 6 - BasicsOffense & ResourceDefense & HealingSpeed & Mobility

Eh, this is pretty basic at this level…

“Either you charge one guy, or you charge ALL the guys”.

There’s nothing more frustrating that losing all your charge stacks. Whether it’s by misplay, lag or laziness – avoid this, man! It’s terrible to be locked out of your only relevant skill!

So it means you either abuse Merciless Assault, or abuse Raekor 2pc. Charging tiny clumps (IE 3 blue elites) is a bad idea. This gives you a good incentive to learn and keep to heart the concept of building density.

Stomp – Boulder: this mini combo is amazeballs. Works wonderfully against spread out and ranged guys, which is the bane of Raekor. Works with any suction effect (which is why I put Leap in there for now).

Use Charge to travel if need be – but hold on to your final one. You get three charges via the runes, but don’t EVER use the final one to “simply travel”.

More offense or Fury needed?

Offense is usually categorized in Damage or, indirectly, Resource Gain.

MOVE ALONG, there’s not much here…

This build is pretty much fully stacked in “practical sources of offense”.

  • Rampage which is recommended already, is the best overall offensive passive.
  • Ruthless is a generic DPS passive and is probably better in the late-game. The problem for early farming is that it doesn’t help with your one-shot capability.
  • Brawler is probably the worst, as it can get awkward with the build, especially for early game where densities aren’t that good.
  • Berserker Rage? I’m not updated on the mechanics of how this works with Raekor… does it have a “delay” like Mr. Yan? Please chime in on this, long-time chargers…

Wrath of the Berserker-Insanity is a very niche late-game choice to abuse with your CoE cycle. You “can” use it now…

Sadly, “on the fly” changes for offense are few and far between. The offensive capabilities of Raekor 6 are mostly locked behind Items.

I know this tab is also for Fury generation. Well… You’re swimming in it.

More defense needed?

Defense is primarily thought of as self-healing and damage reduction.

Self-healing (and toughness) is important RIGHT NOW.
Remember good ‘ol Life per Fury Spent and Life per Hit.

Raekor’s is notoriously weak with health sustain… This is why early on we use War Cry-Invigorate, and optionally, Inspiring Presence as DPS won’t be a likely factor to be “holding you back”. There are better ways to sustain, but let’s not get too much into late-game discussion here…

Pound of Flesh, along the same lines, gives us some pretty good sustain while improving movespeed. (Hate to mention it again… good ‘ol Standoff).

Bloodthirst is kinda funny with this build. Boulder Toss will now double as a massive heal. It’s not bad at all… if you need it, you need it – right? KEEP IN MIND this can be redundant with the stat “Life per Fury Spent” found in Mighty Belts and Mighty Weapons.

War Cry-Veteran’s Warning is the ultimate defensive rune of War Cry. While we use Invigorate early on, this becomes irrelevant as we creep into higher GR’s.

Relentless – gives you the most survivability to “non-one shots”. This, along with Nerves of Steel, are you go-to defensive passives. Superstition is a weaker choice.

More mobility needed?

Speed is very closely linked to Raekor’s set due to Standoff. While we assume you don’t own it yet, we might as well talk about it a bit here, as you SHOULD be looking to get it ASAP.

These are notable changes especially to make bounties go a little faster!

I can’t recommend anything else for NOW…
(See: Speedfarming General, Barbarian Speedfarming, Best Barbarian Speedfarming)

Items to look for

Not that legendary gems are wrapped up (the easy part…), it’s time for the ENDLESS grind for the perfect items! Raekor, luckily, has only very few core items

Blood ShardsDeath's BreathClassics
Using Blood Shards:

Where to spend your blood shards, loosely ordered by importance! Since we already have our Raekor 6 piece, what should we use our shards on next?

Vile Ward – If you took 2 seconds to read what it does, this becomes a painfully obvious place to start dumping blood shards into: Shoulders first! This is a DISGUSTING INCREASE IN POWER FROM A SINGLE ITEM. Cube this.

That’s it for key items! Now WE FIND IMMORTAL KING SET PIECES.

Immortal King + Raekor combo is not a bad path to start speedfarming.

Use your shards to find these. The goal is to combine 5 pieces of Immortal King with 3 pieces Raekor using Ring of Royal Grandeur.

Belts are up next for Goldwrap and Immortal King’s Tribal Binding.

Bracers are up next. 3 of them are a decent upgrade:

There are some “low impact fillers” here and there like Aquila Cuirass

After this – the usefulness of shards for the “25” tier is almost non-existent. Time to frustrate ourselves by spending on the 50 buck rings!

Ring: Bunch of great rings. Band of Might is the best defensive bonus we can get for one item. Unity is a close second! CoE is great to have.

Ring of Royal Grandeur: from ACT I bounties and is SUPER IMPORTANT for almost any Barb build.

Avarice from Act III bounties, for speedfarming – might as well list it down here.

Using Death’s Breath – Rare to legendary:

If there is a single weapon to skyrocket us into godhood it’s the 2H-Polearm: Standoff. Spare no expense in getting this! This is the first place you should look into sinking your Death’s Breaths into.

Once you get Standoff you can make some build changes like Sprint-Marathon.

2H Mighty Weapon: Immortal King’s Boulder Breaker – for hybrid IK/Raekor.

Aside from this there’s not much else you’d really want…

2H Mace: The Furnace – one of those good ‘ol Barb staples.

I suppose you can do Rings for Band of Might

The Classics: Good for any type of newer character, and even the most battle-hardened of builds.

Ring of Royal Grandeur: “Break” your 6-piece to make space for a good filler item!

Accessory Sets: FocusRestraint or Traveler’s Pledge. Completing any of these 2-sets is a vast power jump. +100%++ is substantial for only 2 slots.

Convention of Elements: Good ‘ol CoE. Wear it, Kanai it, as a filler or till the end of time. Learning to maximize CoE in any build you choose is a turning point for higher GR’s.

Unity: Straight 50% damage reduction in the cube. Too bad you need two of ’em.

Goldwrap + Avarice + Boon of The Hoarder: I don’t care how many times I have to remind you about this combo. Be on the lookout. Avarice drops from ACT III bounties.

How to fit in IK6R4 to get all the set bonuses?

Physically fit in 3 Raekor pieces, 5 Immortal King pieces, and let RoRG fill it out.

  • Helm: Raekor / IK
  • Shoulder: ALWAYS Raekor
  • Chest: Raekor / IK (Preferably Raekor) (FC% is “better” on R chest)
  • Belt: ALWAYS IK.
  • Legs: Raekor / IK
  • Boots: Raekor / IK
  • Weapon: ALWAYS IK.
  • Ring or Cube: Ring of Royal Grandeur.

Bridging to the End-game

So you skipped a whole chunk of the powering up phase with the free set. Now what? Like I always say, “Speedfarming first before pushing GR’s”. So, convert what you have NOW to be as speedfarmy as possible, first.

Luckily, the build we recommend above leads RIGHT INTO the Barb speedfarming build.

  1. the season 13 barbarian build is overpowered.I suggest pairing MOTE with a good rolled Fury of the Vanquished Peak + seismic slam % on items you can get it.Fun times and makes Seismic slam fun to play with plus all the earthquakes.

  2. I found a different 4-piece skill setup, personal preference of course:
LMB – Cleave – Reaping Swing
RMB – Whirlwind – Wind Shear
    A – Furious Charge – Stamina
    S – Rend – Bloodbath
